Overview

Summer Sports Camp Lead

 

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is searching for a perceptive and well-rounded Sports Camp Lead to teach youth the fundamentals of sports. The Sports Camp Lead should familiarize youth with sporting guidelines, diagnose and remedy form-related issues, and provide instruction on safe, effective sporting techniques. You should also bolster emotional functioning through coaching. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development; healthy living and social responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of a written curriculum that is age appropriate and will provide the child with the ability to reach their fullest potential in each area of development
  • Supervise and participate with staff and participants during all large and small group activities
  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences
  • Provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each participant and show as much individual attention as possible
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the program’s policies, health and safety regulations, and emergency procedures and have the ability to implement if necessary
  • Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies
  • Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, and participants
  • Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents
  • Supervise all Sports Camp Program areas locker rooms and bathrooms
  • Complete routine and required forms to include, but not limited to: attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports
  • May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for trainings, extended program hours and staff meetings

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with children leading recreational activities
  • Must possess knowledge of rules of a variety of sports and a willingness to learn other sport fundamentals as necessary

Posted Salary Range

USD $15.00 - USD $16.50 /Hr.
