Overview

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Store & Office Manager/Photographer is responsible for ensuring that campers experience a positive experience at the Camp Store and families have access to an organized camper communication system (traditional mail, web-based mail, and in-house letter delivery) as well as exceptionally curated photos of their camper's experience. This position will manage Camp Shady Brook's retail store, camper mail systems, and online photo software.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Associate Executive Director to develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate camp communication needs and strategies (struggling campers, staff, etc.)
  • Assume responsibility for the heath/welfare of campers and staff entrusted to his/her charge
  • Act as a positive role model for campers and other staff, demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in the performance of job duties
  • Sort mail and CampMinder emails daily
  • Evaluate current season, make suggestions, and create a Photographer/Store manual
  • Conduct a daily inventory of all items in store. Communicate any needs/discrepancies to the
  • Associate Executive Director immediately
  • Enter all items, pricing, and quantities into CampMinder accurately
  • Provide high quality customer service to campers and families who visit the store
  • Responsible for opening the store and being ready for business in a timely manner both within scheduled times and upon request of guests.
  • Organize and market the items in the store effectively throughout the camp community
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on all issues that may arise from phone calls or working in the office
  • Take photos daily of campers engaged in camp activities
  • Post photos daily to CampMinder
  • Create content to post to social media as approved by the Associate Executive Director.
  • Develop a staff photo album by the last day of camp featuring each staff member
  • To perform all other duties as needed or assigned
  • These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Previous photography/retail experience preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities-allowing for the development of personal and professional interpersonal relationships with staff, campers, parents, and others
  • Must be committed to the mission of YMCA Camp Shady Brook and be an advocate and role model for staff and campers alike
  • Experience and/or previous training in youth camping
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification
