Overview

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  Under the direction of the Operations Director, and in the accordance with the policies of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, the Business Coordinator provides and is responsible for program registration and general center information for the Colorado Springs Senior Center. The Business Coordinator will also be responsible for the coordination of volunteers to include; recruiting, hiring/termination, placing, supervision and tracking of volunteers at the center.  The Business Coordinator will participate as part of the centers management team and maintain a professional manner with members, staff, volunteers, and the community. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures that daily care of participants is first priority.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to assigned supervisory staff; assist as needed in a variety of daily operational needs throughout the center.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, registrations, provide general information and distribution of program information.
  • Collaborate with Center and Program staff to ensure consistent excellence in service through daily care of program participants and volunteers.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special events and services.
  • Prepare weekly cash receipts for processing
  • Accountable for execution of policies and procedures of the Center and the Association.
  • Recruits, screens, hires/terminates, placing, tracking, trainings and evaluates volunteer positions. 
  • Works with center staff to identify current needs for volunteers, maintains volunteer’s files, coordinates marketing of volunteer opportunities, ensures the tracking and reporting of volunteer hours, and coordinates volunteer orientation, development and recognition programs. 
  • Incorporates the mission and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers.
  • Act as Primary Responder in case of accident, injury, or illness.                               
  • Participates in association group meetings, and other task groups assigned.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of related experience in supervising office operations, including administrative functions and computer operations
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education/experience preferred
  • Must have previous hiring, supervision & development of volunteers
  • Experience with computers including word processing, database software and spreadsheets
  • The ability to relate to all individuals is essential.
  • Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed.
  • Strong skills are necessary in, public relations, promotion, written and verbal communication skills, and record-keeping.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with participants, staff, peers, volunteers and supervisor
  • Must work well independently and as part of a team
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven ability to have initiative, good judgment and ability to make decisions independently but to also consult leadership with questions and concerns.
  • Competent computer skills (Windows)

Posted Salary Range

USD $17.00 - USD $18.50 /Hr.
